David Miller from Cortland is celebrating a life-changing win after claiming the top prize of $10 million in the New York Lottery's Deluxe scratch-off game. Miller purchased the winning ticket at the Grand Union located on State Route 281 in Cortland. Opting for a lump sum payment, he will receive approximately $6.5 million after taxes and other withholdings.
According to the Syracuse.com, all top prizes for this scratch-off game have now been claimed, although lower-tier prizes can still be cashed until November 7, 2026. The New York Lottery's scratch-off games generated over $4.3 billion in sales during the 2024-2025 fiscal year, with Cortland County schools receiving more than $11.5 million in Lottery Aid to Education funds.
Miller's win comes just in time for the holidays, making the season even more special for him and his family. The New York Lottery encourages players to check the status of any scratch-off game by downloading the Game Report from their website.
