Kentwood Police ask witnesses to come forward in fatal car/pedestrian crash

KENTWOOD, Mich. -- A 41-year-old woman was struck by at least one vehicle last night on eastbound 28th Street in Kentwood and died at the scene.

"Life-saving measures were attempted ... but she passed quickly," Captain Tim Wierenga told WOOD Radio.

The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes, just east of East Paris Avenue. Wierenga says it's possible that a driver may not have even realized their vehicle struck someone, because it was dark outside and there was a lot of glare, and a lot of traffic.

"During our investigation, we had a few people stop and witnesses gave their account," Capt. Wierenga said. "We are looking for anyone out there who may have witnessed this crash around that time."

The pedestrian's name had not been released yet, at the time of publication.

You can the Kentwood Police at 616-656-6561, if you witnessed it or think your vehicle may have been involved.
