PDX Resumes Green Plate Program

PDX has restarted a program using reusable plates at some restaurants.

Travelers ordering from Bambuza Vietnam Kitchen & Bar, MOD Pizza, or Mo’s Seafood & Chowder in Concourse C who are eating in the dining area can choose for their meal to come on reusable plates, bowls, and utensils. When travelers have finished eating, they'll drop everything into one of the nearby bus tubs – no scraping, rinsing, or extra steps required. Behind the scenes, our team takes care of it from there. They compost food scraps, wash the dishes, then return them to the restaurants. Each spot has its own color-coded dishware, so everything finds its way back home once it’s clean.

PDX first piloted this effort in 2017 with enormous success, and brought the program back in 2019, but paused it amid the pandemic and main terminal construction. But now Green Plate is back in action! It’s rolled out at a few participating spots in Concourse C for now, but the program will expand to the entire airport next year once the main terminal project wraps up and two more dishwashing rooms are added.
