(Iowa) -- Starting this month, Iowans will have a chance to celebrate America's 250th birthday and learn about Iowa history with a trip through the state's scenic byways.
The Iowa Department of Transportation is partnering with Iowa Scenic Byways on "Iowa's America 250 Scenic Byways Road Trip," featuring six free monthly educational events where people can learn about Iowa's contributions to American history. The events will be held at locations along Iowa's Scenic Byways once per month from January to June.
The first three events include:
- January 18, 2026: Lacey-Keosauqua State Park Lodge, Historic Hills Byway from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
- February 28, 2026: – Clermont Opera House, River Bluffs Scenic Byway from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
- March 22, 2026 – Fort Madison Riverfront Pavilion, The Great River Road National Scenic Byway from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
