LOWELL, Mich. -- Anyone who has home security footage of someone suspicious near the Schneider Manor senior living facility early Monday morning should contact the Lowell Police Department.
Police Chief Dennis Albert announced in a news release Tuesday that investigators have determined the fire that broke out in the building on Bowes Road near Pleasant Avenue around 1:45 a.m. likely was intentionally set. He said some items in the hallway were set on fire.
Everyone inside got out safely.

The Lowell Police Department is asking for the community’s help in identifying a person of interest connected to an early morning fire Monday at Schneider Manor, a senior living facility on the city’s west side.
The fire was reported at approximately 1:45 a.m. in a common hallway area between apartments at Schneider Manor, 725 Bowes Road. Investigators believe the fire was intentionally started after several items in the hallway were ignited.
The Lowell Area Fire Department, Ada Township Fire Department and Lowell Police Department responded to the scene and were able to quickly extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported.
The incident remains under investigation. Police believe the fire may have been started by a male approximately 6 feet tall who was wearing dark clothing.
“While we are grateful no one was hurt, this incident is being taken very seriously,” Lowell Police Chief Dennis Albert said. “We are asking residents in the area to review any doorbell, home or security camera footage from the early morning hours, especially between midnight and 2 a.m. Even something that seems minor could help us move this investigation forward and identify the individual responsible.”
