The House Judiciary Committee has released hours worth of testimony from former Special Council Jack Smith, who lead multiple prosecutions against then former President Trump ahead of the 2024 election.
Smith was grilled behind closed doors by legislators for over eight hours earlier this month, during which time Smith admitted that he made the decision to prosecute Trump, but denied that it was political.
Smith also admitted that much of the evidence he relied on, including claims made by former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson, was really just hearsay. He said, "If I were a defense attorney and Ms. Hutchinson were a witness, the first thing I would do was seek to preclude some of her testimony because it was hearsay, and I don’t have the full range of her testimony in front of me right now, but I do remember that that was a decent part of it."
