(Des Moines, IA) -- The Des Moines Police Department has released data and statistics from 2024.
DMPD says the data point to positive trends in homicides, deadly crashes, and recovered firearms. In 2024, the Des Moines Police Department received more than 450 thousand calls, two thirds of which were non-911 calls. Police issued nearly 22 thousand traffic tickets and over 97 hundred written warnings in 2024.
There were three officer-involved shootings in 2024, and all officers involved were cleared by the Iowa Attorney General as justified in their use of force.
