Venezuelans Celebrate Arrest Of President Across FL

(Palm Beach, Miami, Doral, FL) -- The arrest of Venezuela President Nicolás Maduro yesterday brought some Floridians out into the streets to celebrate across the state. A Doral cultural hub in Miami had people playing music, waving flags and honking horns. People gathered near Mar-a-Lago yesterday donning Venezuelan and American flags. 

Flights Disrupted Over Maduro Capture

(Miami, FL) --Things should be getting back to normal at airports in South Florida. There were hundreds of delays yesterday at Miami International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The disruptions were due to the FAA's decision to close airspace in the Caribbean. Those restrictions were lifted last night. Airport officials advise checking your flight status before going to the airport.  

FPL Implements Highest Rate Hike In Company History

(Juno Beach, FL) --Florida Power and Light officials says they have implemented the largest rate hike in FPL's history on Thursday.Rates are increasing two-dollars and fifty cents per month. Officials say it'll support the development of the electrical grid over the next few years and other related infrastructures.     

USPS Driver Tries To Run Over Boy In Escambia County

(Escambia County, FL) -- A spokesperson with Florida Highway Patrol says USPS driver William White Jr. is facing felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and other related charges after trying to run over a boy. Authorities say the boy noticed a package was delivered to the incorrect address on Wednesday and attempted to take it to the right home. Officials say White assumed the boy was stealing the package and charged at him with the USPS vehicle, running over the scooter. White posted a $5500 bond and his court date is set in a few weeks.     

LSSU Releases Banished Words Lists And 6-7 Is Cooked

(Sault Ste. Marie, MI) -- Lake Superior State University's 50th annual Banished Words List is out. It includes "six-seven," which was just named Dictionary.com's Word of the Year for 2025 back in October. Making up the rest of the list are: "Demure," "cooked," "massive," "incentivize," "full stop," "perfect," "gift or gifted," "my bad," and lastly "reach out."
