Dave Bowman joins us for this first Tuesday of 2026.
The CBS Evening News with Tony Dokoupil debuted last night. It was a good newscast as the Florida native took the command seat. I didn’t see a home run, but I did see a format, especially in the early part of the show, that covered multiple angles of the Venezuela story as it continued to unwind. I’d call the reporting fair, as in even handed. That’s a step.
They did note the demonstrations and protests occurring in the US and were even handed in that coverage as well.
Those protests will be in focus this morning as Dave and I kick around the power of social media and the social contagion that it spreads.
Also, media related, The Corporation for Public Broadcasting is done. The plywood is going up on the windows and Public Stations are left to make it on their own. Will they? I’m guessing so, but like with the CBS revamp, time will tell.
In our final hour, Dave Does History will delve back into Liberty 250 and the grievances of the colonies with Great Britain.
Let’s get to it.
