(Perry, IA) -- The Superintendent of the Perry Community School District will retire after 32 years with the district.
Clark Wicks tells WHO Radio News he is stepping down as Superintendent in June.
"Since 1989, I have been part of many notable accomplishments at Perry Community Schools. Over the past 32 years, I have worked alongside talented educators, board members, administrators, and directors who embraced the core values that make Perry such a special place to thrive: Growth Mindset, Integrity, Gratitude, and Relationships," Wicks wrote.
Wicks highlighted the district's achievements, such as Perry Elementary being designated as a Blue Ribbon school, building improvements and advancements in technology and security.
Wicks was Superintendent during the 2024 school shooting that killed a six year old student and a teacher.
His retirement is effective June 30th.
