Mayor-elect Helena Moreno says her administration plans to pay NOPD retention bonuses, even though the pandemic funding that had been set aside for them has gone away.
Moreno says the State Legislative Auditor has confirmed that the city's payroll Revenue Anticipation Note can be used to pay the unfunded obligations.
She plans to seek approval for the payments from the City Council in a special meeting a week from today, during her first week in office.
