(Miami, FL) - The Miami Dolphins fired head coach Mike McDaniel Thursday after the team failed to make the playoffs for the second straight season.
The team's announcement of McDaniel's ouster comes just days after the Baltimore Ravens cut ties with John Harbaugh after 18 seasons as head coach.
64-year-old Harbaugh is 12th all-time winningest NFL head coach and led the Ravens to a Super Bowl title in 2012.
In addition, according to the Ravens Wire, "There have been discussions of Lamar Jackson or the Ravens potentially wanting to part ways, and if the Miami Dolphins were one of the teams that inquired about the head coach, things could get interesting."
Competition is stiff as the Fins join the Giants, Titans, Browns, Raiders, Cardinals, Falcons and Ravens as the eight teams with head coach vacancies.
