(Linn County, IA) -- Linn County has an agreement in principle for rezoning of the Duane Arnold Nuclear Plant in Palo.
NextEra Energy is planning to restart the facility they closed six years ago to supply Google's new Cedar Rapids data center with power.
The agreement with Linn County would see nearly 400 acres rezoned with NextEra providing financing for emergency preparedness and infrastructure improvements.
The county will hold one more public meeting on the rezoning before holding a final vote on approval.
