(Iowa) -- A new study ranks Iowa in the top half of the healthiest states in the country.
America's Health Rankings from United Health Foundation published its 2025 Annual Report, analyzing trends in clinical care, physical environment, behaviors, and more. Iowa ranks as the 17th healthiest state in the country, with low rates of illegal drug use and a high rate of high school graduation. The study finds the main challenges for Iowa are high rates of excessive drinking and obesity. Iowa, saw a 12% increase in colorectal cancer screenings between 2022 and 2024, up to 71.6% of adults ages 45-75, as well as a 7% drop in premature deaths. However, the state also saw a 20% rise in depression between 2019 and 2024, as well as a 20% decrease in HPV vaccinations between 2022 and 2024.
