(Polk County, IA) -- A scam is being reported again in central Iowa.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office says scammers look up personal information for those being held in the Polk County Jail, then call family members and loved ones pretending to be from a bail bonds company. The scammers then ask for a payment in exchange for the inmate's release. PCSO says if you receive one of these calls, don't give the caller any information and hang up.
Bail amounts can be verified through the Polk County Sheriff's Office app.
