Why Day Dreaming May Help You

If you daydream a lot, you may be better off than most people.

Daydreaming is often seen as being wasteful of your time or not being attentive, not listening or slacking off at your workplace,

A new report says we need more daydreaming not less.

The report by Axios says the benefits of daydreaming are being wiped out by all the time we spend scrolling through emails and other content on our phones.

They say surveys show that people check their phones at least 50-100 times a day, leaving little time to just being with their thoughts and thinking…and yes, daydreaming.

A study in the Journal of Experimental Psychology found that people routinely underestimate how much they like to think.  And how it can help them.

Some research has found that a lot of us actually do our most creative thinking in the shower, the one time each day we presumably don’t scroll through the phone.

So, what to do about it?How do we spend more time thinking and trying to find answers and solve problems and find ways for better relationships?

Detach yourself from your phone a bit, cutback on the scrolling and reduce the amount of information overloading you are suffering from.

And think about spending more time daydreaming, or meditating, to find yourself better able to have a better life.
