1 President Trump Says There's A "Concept Of A Deal" On Greenland

President Trump sat down with CNBC at the World Economic Forum in Davos yesterday, covering a range of topics. He said he has nearly chosen the next Federal Reserve chair, narrowing his list from 11 candidates to possibly one in his mind, though he didn't name who. Trump also announced a framework for a deal on Greenland, saying the arrangement will last forever and involve Arctic security and mineral rights. He called for Congress to pass a one-year 10-percent cap on credit card interest rates, an idea JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon called a disaster.

2 Former Uvalde School Police Officer Found Not Guilty On All Counts Of Child Endangerment

A jury found former Uvalde school police officer Adrian Gonzales not guilty yesterday on all 29 counts of child endangerment for his response to the 2022 Robb Elementary School shooting. Gonzales was among the first officers to arrive at the scene, where 19 students and two teachers were killed. It took 77 minutes before law enforcement mounted a counterassault to stop the gunman, and prosecutors argued that Gonzales had a chance to intervene after a teaching aide told him the shooter's location. The defense argued Gonzales was being unfairly blamed for a broader failure that day and did everything he could with the information he had, including gathering information and evacuating children. This was only the second time in U.S. history that prosecutors tried to hold an officer criminally accountable for their response to a mass shooting. Former Uvalde Schools Police Chief Pete Arredondo, who was the on-site commander that day, still faces child endangerment charges and has pleaded not guilty.

3 Arctic Air Mass Set To Bring Dangerous Winter Weather To A Large Part Of The US

Meteorologists are warning people to get their preparations done before this weekend’s weather moves through their area. A dangerous Arctic blast is set to bring subzero temperatures and brutal windchills to the eastern third of the country this week, with a major winter storm following close behind. Windchills could make it feel as cold as 50 below zero in the Upper Midwest. Snow and ice are already causing problems in the Northeast, including a 60-vehicle pileup on Interstate 90 in New York that stretched more than six miles. Schools in Kentucky and Indiana closed yesterday, and the Great Lakes region could see up to two feet of lake-effect snow in some areas. A massive winter storm is expected to stretch 2,000 miles from Texas to the East Coast starting Friday and lasting through the weekend. Major cities from Dallas to New York are in the storm's path, with forecasts predicting 8 to 14 inches of snow for Oklahoma City and significant accumulations for cities like Memphis, Nashville, and Washington.
