The high surf advisory continues through 11 O'clock tonight for San Diego County and Orange County beaches.
The National Weather Service says local beaches are seeing four-to-seven foot waves, with sets up to eight feet and a high rip current risk.
According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) Elida is expected to continue weakening over the next couple of days.
Lifeguards are warning of dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion during the high surf conditions.
