BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The political rhetoric leading up to Election Day has been loud, relentless, and contentious.

Some are hopeful that the day will mark a turning point in which people can begin to do one simple thing: get along with one another.

“I just want the arguing, the badgering and all that stuff, I just want it to stop,” one voter said.

He said that he sees the battles between the candidates on television and hears them on the radio, while his daughter sees the same rhetoric on social media. For her part, she is also glad Election Day is finally here.

“People don’t do enough research before posting or talking about what they think or what they want, so I’m [happy] for people to take a step back from the phones and social media and stop being ignorant online, at least for a little while,” she said.

WBZ NewsRadio spoke to another voter about why she is happy that the day has arrived.

“So, the ads and all the political nonsense can stop,” she said.

Her husband agrees that it’s well past time to end the acrimony.

“We should just come together instead of bashing each other. We shouldn’t be talking bad about anybody; it is what it is just run the country and live free,” he added.
