Hinesville councilman charged with DUI

HINESVILLE, Ga. (WSAV) – A member of the Hinesville City Council has been charged with driving under the influence.

Jail records show Jose Ortiz was arrested by the Liberty County Sheriff's Office on Friday around 7:45 p.m.

By the end of the night, the councilman had been released from jail on bond.

In addition to DUI, he was charged with a tail light requirement.

According to his bio on the city's website, Ortiz represents the fifth district in Hinesville.
