SOMERVILLE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Couples who found each other at The Burren in Somerville reminisced on the beginning of their love story at a special event on Saturday.
“So many people have stories that started here, [and] people have gone on to have kids,” an employee with The Burren told WBZ NewsRadio. “So, we got to see a lot of it from the beginning until the very end.”
The pub hosted a “Love Pub” event, inviting couples who met their happily-ever-afters back to celebrate at the place that started it all.
“On our social media, we put up a forum asking if anyone met here or their love stories start here to let us know, and the responses were crazy,” she said, adding that they received hundreds of replies.
The Burren had also taken on a new reputation online recently. What started as a viral video has turned into a local folk tale that named the place as the best place to meet the ‘the one' offline.
“I was playing every Tuesday and he was a regular,” one couple attending Saturday’s event recounted their first meeting.
The employee attributed the bar’s new status to keeping the vibes old-school with no t-vs as Celtic music plays in the front house and pop band covers in the back rooms.
“People are relaxed and friendly, just talking and dancing,” the employee said.
