BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) —Mass General Brigham and Rhode Island-based CVS plan to team up to offer primary care services at multiple drug stores across Massachusetts.

A proposal has been sent to state regulators, detailing plans to offer primary care inside CVS MinuteClinic sites where health providers are slim.

According to the plan, 37 facilities would open in parts of Worcester County, Bristol County, and Western Mass. An estimated 80 nurses and physician assistants would be employed by CVS, and with the help of MGB, it’s said they could assist up to 120,000 adults in the Bay State.

Amid long wait times in health clinics and shortages in primary care physicians, this plan will solve those problems, along with providing sustainable care to much-needed areas.

The plan will be reviewed by the State Health Policy Commission.
