BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Aspiring STEM workers had a chance to connect with some industry leaders at the second annual Careers of Tomorrow job fair at the Museum of Science Saturday.

David Sittenfeld, the museum’s Center of the Environment director and organizer of the event, told WBZ NewsRadio that the goal is to introduce all the different career pathways in the world of STEM.

“Any job can be a STEM job because we really need people in all of the sectors to solve the problems our world is facing,” he said.

Companies from various industries, including pharmaceuticals, healthcare construction and more, were showcasing all the different opportunities to get involved.

Mike with State Electric said in the era where data centers for artificial intelligence have been expanding, people are needed more than ever to build them.

“If you think about all the buildings that’s required to do that, that will never be replaced by AI,” he said. “You need the skill-trades people to build these buildings and produce them so… there’s definitely a labor shortage.”

The fair also offered seminars, panels, free headshots, mentorship opportunities and more.

Diaraliz, a biochemistry student who attended the event, said that having all these guides in one place was very helpful to feel prepared for the vast industry.

“You can hear a little bit about all the different career trajectories that there are in the stem pathway and think a little bit about which one fits your needs,” Sittenfeld said.
