BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Thursday saw the return of Red Cup Day at Starbucks locations across the country.

In Boston, many local Starbucks enthusiasts have been looking forward to this day for the better part of a year.

WBZ NewsRadio spoke to some regulars who see Red Cup Day as an annual tradition.

“Every year I’ve been doing it for the past five years and I enjoy getting the coffee so, it’s just like a little prize you get,” said Sarah.

For others, they were inspired by the annual trend and decided to participate this year.

“I just got [a red cup] and I saw people grabbing it, so I guess I’ll [do it too],” she said.

“One of my coworkers bought one this morning, and I said oh, nice cup! So, I figured I’d get a drink,” said Tarnia, who works in Boston. “I’m not sure if this supports anything or not, but I like the cup!” she added.

“I guess I’ve now experienced my first red cup day!” celebrated Nicole, a student in the area.
