Salem, MASS (WBZ NewsRadio) — A rum distillery in Salem has planned for a massive spike in popularity in 2025.
Eric Glass founded Rumson’s Rum in 2014 after years of working in healthcare marketing selling products for Pfizer.
After a decade of existence, the business has garnered acclaim all across the rum-enjoying world.
“We are the most awarded run brand in New England by a long shot,” Eric said. “We've won 70 plus awards at this point.”
Some of these awards include 2015’s Best Aged Rum Award from The Fifty Best, as well as Gold and Silver Medals from the Bartender Spirits Awards for various products in 2020 and 2022-2024.
Despite the critical success, however, Glass said that the expected spike in popularity for rum in 2025 will mean a spike in sales for his Rumson.
“Bourbon has had its boom, tequila is sort of reaching that plateau now,” Eric said. “Rum is anticipated to sort of be the next spirit that has the opportunity.”

Glass said that he plans for a growth of 500-1000% for Rumson’s Rum because of this rise of interest in rum and some well-executed marketing.
Eric talked about plans to spread awareness of his company through word of mouth and personally bringing his rum to distributors for tastings. Though an involved process, he said that the hustle of this marketing method was worth it for him.
“I don't have the broad awareness yet, where everybody is aware of me and they're going to come and try me, I have to keep at it,” Glass said.
This year, Glass said that he plans to put more funding towards this marketing approach, having sales representatives go to more of these distributors to increase interest and sales.
