BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Concession workers at TD Garden voted to ratify a new contract Sunday, avoiding a worker's strike.
The United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1445 Union, which represents about 600 TD Garden workers, finally approved the contract after several months of negotiations with Delaware North, the company that owns the Garden.

Some highlights of the new contract include an increase in commission rates for the first time in two decades, better seniority protections, and increases in event minimums and hourly rates.
“After months of grueling negotiations and increasing attention from the news media, labor movement, and sports fans across the Boston area, negotiators at Delaware North felt sufficient pressure to move on what had previously been hardline stances and demands for concessions from the membership,” UFCW Local 1445 said in a statement on Sunday.
The Union also said that while there were some aspects of the contract still outstanding, a close vote in favor led to the contract’s ratification on Sunday, which will ensure better benefits for workers and popular concession favorites for those attending events at TD Garden.
The union added that “members left the meeting relieved to continue working yet energized to organize and agitate for more strong improvements at the conclusion of this agreement in three years.”
