Stepping Into the Night...The Geek Freak of the Week Is Here!

As we start off this week...the Spider-Man Sony/Disney break up is still circulating around the internet. I am still hearing rumors about Disney maybe getting their hands on Spider-Man yet again. The latest is this: Sony's entertainment and movie studios ARE for Sale?! What?!

It looks like Apple is setting their eyes on purchasing a studio. Along with Sony, here are the ones that are named that they are eyeing:

  • CBS-Viacom
  • A24
  • MGM Studios
  • Lionsgate Studios
  • Netflix....yah, that one shocked me as well.

Also looking at Sony, allegedly, is Amazon. So....IS THIS TRUE?! Sony isn't doing the best at box office hits and it's been a long time since they got an Oscar nomination for one of their movies.

The reports are if Sony falls into Apple's hands, Apple will then work out a deal with Disney for Spider-Man. Since the two giants have been friends for decades (each serving on each others board of directors) it's only fitting that they can reach the deal that Disney wanted with Sony all along. I can see the title now...Spider-Man: Returns Home.

Was this the plan?! If so...Disney IS diabolical! One could even say...fowl. More on that later.

Again, these are just rumors and nothing confirmed. If something does break, stay with the Geek Freak of the Week and Rock 101 for the latest.

It's time to geek out and we're going to start with something happy...

September 21st Is Batman Day!

There should be carols for a day like this. Even though Batman's first appearance was back in Detective Comics #38 issue back in April of 1939, September has always been saved for Batman Day. Why? Who cares! This year we celebrate Batman's 80th Birthday. From comics to T.V. shows and movies to video games all the action figures and collectibles out there, the Batman logo is easily one of the most recognizable symbols in the world. if you don't have plans this Saturday, TNT will be playing Batman some of the movies...here's the line up:

  • 10am - Batman & Robin (got to get the worst one out of the way...)
  • 12:30pm - Batman
  • 3:15pm - Batman Returns
  • 5:45pm - Batman Forever
  • 8:15pm - Man of Steel....wait, WHAT?! Okay...at least put Batman V Superman on!

Need to add some stuff to your collection? Check out all the Batman Stuff You Can Get! (PS...I own MOST of the stuff)

Also...near a Barnes & Nobel book store? They will have some great deals on Batman stuff in their stores.

Back From The Dead?

Along with seeing Natasha back from her Volmir grave we also might be seeing Tony Stark alive and well again...in the past. Although nothing is confirmed, it is heavily suggested that in the Black Widow solo film we will be seeing Mr.Stark in his gold and red armor again. How is this possible? This movie takes place between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. So, at this point both were alive and not avenging anything. Tony was trying to start a family while Natasha was on the run with Steve and Sam because of the Sokovia Accords.

Black Widow arrives in theaters May 1, 2020.

Spiders...Mutants...and Aliens OH MY!

This is said to be from the "vault" of the MCU (seriously, Disney likes their vaults). Back in 2008 when the first Iron Man came out we all remember the post credit scene where we meet Nick Fury for the first time. He addresses Tony about how the world is changing and he is putting together a team....well apparently that wasn't the original take. Looks like Fury had information on Peter Parker and the X-Men. The problem? Well, at this point in time Spider-Man and X-Men could not be used by Marvel Studios. In fact, this was before Disney owned Marvel. So the plan from the very beginning was to (hopefully) have all these characters together. Maybe they made this just in case that day were to come true they can add this scene in a future release of Iron Man or anything regarding the Infinity Saga. It's always good thing think ahead! Take a look!

Yup...That's Nightwing

I'll say it for everyone...ABOUT TIME! We haven't seen Nightwing make his debut yet in the show, however, some pictures are starting to show up on the internet of Dick Grayson suited up as Bludhaven's Blue Hero. All throughout season 1 it was a struggle for Robin, played by Australian actor Brenton Thwaites, on who he needs to be and how he can escape the life of Bruce Wayne and Batman's shadow. Now that the Titans have united, and we have another Robin (Jason Todd) in the crew, it's time we see Dick in his blue and black attire. Looks like it could happen sooner rather than later.

Season 2 of Titans is now streaming on DCUniverse

Somebody Save Me!

Tom Welling, who played Clark Kent in Smallville, the Grandfather show of the entire Arrowverse has been added to list of those returning for Crisis on Infinite Earths! Notice the wording in his announcement...he is returning as Clark Kent and not labeled as Superman. This probably means we won't see him wearing a red and blue suit. Who cares, it be a slap in the face if they didn't include Smallville or any of their actors for this crossover.

Crisis on Infinite Earths begins this December and wraps up in January 2021.

Enter F.OW.L.

THIS IS HAPPENING!!! I'm shocked and excited that Ducktales is going in this direction for their third season. Watch the clip below and for more on this, take a listen to the Geek Freak of the Week Podcast.

Until next week....I'm Maz and that's the Geek Freak of the Week! (brought to you by no one)
