The Sun Sets On The Skywalker Saga
That's a lot of "S". After 42 years the Skywalker Saga is coming to an end with the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Don't fear though. More films set in a galaxy far far away are set to come out in the future! Disney likes to do that. So if you have seen this final episode, don't be a little sith and ruin it for anyone.
What do you think is going to happen? is Rey a Skywalker? How is Palpatine back...or is he just an illusion? You might know the answer, but I don't yet! I'm seeing it Christmas Eve. For now, watch the trailer and get excited for more space battles and light saber fights!
Okay...let's geek out.
Go Go Power Rangers Reboot
It's Morphing Time....again. This time by Hasbro (the new parent company of Power Rangers) and Paramount Studios. This news isn't shocking as it has been speculated it would go to a new studio as a reboot for months. Right now, the only thing we know is an idea of the plot. It is said that the show will return to it's roots by having Rangers time travel to the '90s in a Back to the Future type story. So, what does this mean? It's early to tell but I have some thoughts that you can listen to on the Geek Freak of the Week Podcast. That link will be below!
When the news broke Jason David Frank (Tommy Oliver...but you might know him as the Green or White Ranger) went to Instagram to share some thoughts on a reboot. His ideas are not crazy, but his spelling is. Did Saba write this?
Anyways, his idea for a reboot is pretty straight forward and what you would expect as he wishes they adapt the Shattered Grid story arc from the Boom! Studios comics. Not a bad idea. That arc got more buzz and attention than the 2017 film. It's current and builds on the Power Rangers lore we already know. If Hasbro and Paramount are looking for a a way to tap into the nostalgia from fans, Shattered Grid or any element that involves the World of the Coinless is perfect to get old and new fans together in a theater. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, click here to read what you have missed.
For Truth, Justice and the Soviet Way
Yes, you read that correctly. What if Superman's rocket landed in the Soviet Union instead of Kansas? That question was answered in 2003 with the "Elseworld" story Superman: Red Son. Now in 2020, we will be getting a animated movie treatment!
The R's Have It!
Add another R rated film to DC's roster of live action movies. Actually, it's smart to do that. Marvel is about family and good vibes, even in the darkest of times. DC on the other hand? BLOOD! SWEARING! AND CARNAGE! Hey, that's okay. DC wanted to be dark and with Deadpool (most likely) getting a PG rating for the next film DC can take over that genre. Are we still calling it the DCEU or did that get destroyed along with the rest of the Ant-Matter wave from Crisis on Infinite Earths?
