Grab Your Lightsaber It's The Geek Freak of the Week!

As we sit here and recap a few things for 2019 we are ending the year with more questions thanks to what happened in The Rise of Skywalker. No need to worry, this is a spoiler-free Geek Freak. In a few weeks we will be discussing a few things regarding the movie in the Geek Freak of the Week Podcast. So you have time to go see the movie. For now padawan learner, you are safe.

2019 was a HUGE year for being a fan of well, anything. This year we saw companies trying to outbid each other to buy 20th Century Fox while movies like Avengers: Endgame were breaking records at the box office and others were bombing hard. *Cough X-Men Dark Phoenix* Along with that, we also witnessed one of the biggest let downs in a TV series history with the final season of Game of Thrones while others were drooling over The Joker origin film. Who would have thought we needed an origin film for the craziest character in comics? Below is a quick recap of what happened month-by-month in this year of geek. So, without further ado AND for the final time of 2019, let's geek out!

I know, wow! That's a lot and you're probably thinking "wait, all that happened this year?" YUP it did night nerds! What was your favorite moment of 2019? There's a lot to choose from, or maybe I missed something? Let me know if I did!

Now let's get into what came out THIS WEEK!

A Third Superhero Landing Is Coming!

Disney has answered all of our wishes. Ryan Reynolds announced that "the whole team" is back for a third Deadpool movie under the Marvel Studios brand. Will they let Deadpool be Deadpool? What will the rating be? They can have some fun with this. Make Deadpool movies the R it wants to be but when he's in team ups, he's bleeped out and we can see him react to that. Also, who wants to see him wearing that Micky Mouse ears hat while punching someone to a pulp?

New Year New Who

Right now on BBC America it's a Doctor Who marathon. Not just from the newer episodes but going back to the ninth and tenth Doctors! This is leading up to the premier of a new episode on New Years Day. So while you are on the couch trying to get rid of your hangover and remembering who you actually kissed at midnight, the Doctor can help! The New Years Day episode arrives from space at 8pm this Wednesday January 1st 2020.

New Years Eve Watch List

Speaking of new years, what will you do on the last day of the year? Go out and bar hop with friends? Order in some Chinese food? Or...go see a movie? If you want to skip being squeezed into a bar that night, waiting three hours for food, or going out in general, check out these options. You can time out certain movies so at midnight, instead of a ball dropping you can see something in the movie happen instead!

For example: if you throw on Star Wars: A New Hope, hit play at 10:02:42 (yes, that has the hour, minute, and seconds in it) at midnight the Death Star will go BOOM! If you're a Marvel fan, ring in the new year in Wakanda! Start Avengers: Infinity War at 9:48:54 and at midnight you can watch Thanos' wipe out half of the universe with his famous snap. There are others that you can find but these seem to be the most popular.

Whatever it is you do on New Years Eve just remember to be safe and be responsible as you bring in the new decade.

Also in 2019 was the debut of the Geek Freak of the Week PODCAST! A 10 year dream finally came true. You can listen to that anytime FOR FREE on the iHeart Radio App on your smartphone, tablet, or smart speaker. Until next year...I'm Maz and that's the Geek Freak of the Week!
