The Power Is Delayed
The Power Rangers can fight monsters and aliens from across the galaxy and are always victorious. However, they are no match for a the virus that is Covid-19. Could this pandemic inspire future seasons? Anyways....the biennial event, Power Morphicon has been rescheduled from this September to June of 2021. It's no shocker that this happened. After Anaheim's WonderCon and San Diego Comic Con were both canceled this announcement was inevitable. However, this could be a sign of something else? Could this lead to a hiatus for the series until 2022? Get out the tin foil hats!
Per Power Morphicon tradition, the previous seasons cast (in this case it would Beast Morphers) announce the new ensemble of rangers for the next season. Back in March, an open casting call was announced. You can find that story here. Since the covid-19 concerns, are auditions still taking place? If not, production for the show will be suspended until one is put together. What could happen is the following, stay with me on this...
- The new cast will be announced in June of 2021 at Power Morphicon.
- Filming for the next season won't start until early fall of 2021.
- The new series won't air until late winter or early spring of 2022 (depending on how many episodes they can shoot
Perhaps? Maybe? Am I being crazy? Probably. All this from a date change. Can you see how big of a nerd I am?
Iron Man Is Back?
I am going to write this with extreme caution. I want to say this first. There is NO PLAN to bring Tony Stark back into the MCU. As of right now, he died using the Infinity Stones to save the whole universe from Thanos.
It's been a year since Avengers: Endgame was released and showed us the conclusion of ten years of stories in the Infinity Saga. The Russo Brothers, who directed Endgame, were asked after their movie anniversary re-watch if there was a chance Tony Stark could return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Anthony Russo answered in a way that some fans have already predicted. That man of iron could return as an AI or hologram in future installments. Full interview is in the tweet below.
PS...why is everyone so bent on getting Tony back? Natasha also died saving the universe! Without her, we wouldn't have the soul stone. Just an observation. Moving on!
No Universal Movies For You!
To quote Ron Burgandy. "Well, that escalated quickly". Looks like Universal Studios and a few movie chains are in a fight. Here's what happened:
Due to COVID-19 concerns, Universal Studios released Trolls: World Tour on-demand instead of in theaters. After its success, the studio recently put out a statement and shared their excitement saying, along the lines, that this could be how they will release future content. Well, the movie chains of AMC and Regal fired back and stated that effective immediately and once they reopen their theaters to the public they will not accept or show any movies from Universal Studios. If this sticks, future big movies Jurassic Park: Dominion and Fast and Furious 9 could potentially not be showing at a theater near you.
On Thursday, Universal stated their disappointment with the decision by AMC and Regal.
Both sides of the argument have a point. Universal has the right to distribute however they want. However, movie chains will need every big movie they can get once they are allowed to reopen to bring in money again.
