It's All About The Cuts In The Latest Geek Freak of the Week

Welcome Geeks, nerds, and dorks to another issue of the Geek Freak of the Week! HBO Max is here, Zack Snyder is teasing us with some Darkseid news, and Sony is about to reveal what it has in store for the future of gaming. But first, let's chat about another cut that could enter into our lives....let's geek out, shall we?

Another Cut

Now that the Snyder Cut of Justice League is scheduled for 2021 fans have moved on to their next crusade. Drum roll please....the David Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad. The director confirmed that one does exist. The DCEU has more cuts of stuff than a butcher shop. Excited for this?

Mark The Calendars

After E3 Expo was canceled due to Covid concerns everything and anything regarding games seemed to be postponed, canceled, or just not spoken about. Sony has decided to change that. On June 4th (this Thursday) Sony will be having a PS5 event at 10am Pacific/1pm Eastern describing what will be featured on the next gaming console. Game on.

HBO, Maximize!

Have you signed up for the coolest and latest streaming service yet? Well, you may not have to shell out the $14.99 a month. Wait...what? So, if you are subscribed for HBO via your cable provider then you have access to HBO Max content. Just download the app and select "sign in from a cable provider" and follow the steps. At first glance, it's purple, black, and looks like Disney+ and Netflix. You can access DC content but it looks like it is just for the movies. Both animated and live action. If you want to watch the Titans, Batman Animated Series, Batman Beyond, or the Superman Animated Series, then you will need a DCuniverse subscription.

However, a few seasons of Doctor Who are on it and Dexters Lab! In fact, there is entire Cartoon Network section to scroll through. There is an Anime section, but it doesn't have a lot to choose from. Baby steps right now!

He's Coming....

Move aside, Thanos....Darkseid is coming! And thanks to HBO Max releasing the Snyder Cut of Justice League we will finally see the first-ever live-action incarnation of Darkseid! Cool, right? Director Zack Snyder gave us a quick preview below! #HesComingIn2021

Superman Is Back!

Henry Cavill has decided he is not finished playing the DCEU's Man of Steel. It seems he has inked a new contract with Warner Brothers and DC to appear in a few supporting roles and cameos in future films. Therefore still connecting the DCEU together without recasting. Not a bad move. This means that the other DC characters can get a chance at the spotlight and not be overpowered by Superman. Plus, remember the ending of Shazam? We can have a flashback showcasing all the questions Freddie had for him. I think this is a win-win for everyone. However, will there be a Man of Steel 2 or another Justice League movie with him donning the cape again? Time will tell.

UPDATED 5/30: According to Superherohype.com this is not a done deal yet. That story is here

Flip Off

The Boys season 2 is coming! When? Mid-2020. So really, any day we should be getting a trailer or a teaser. For now, this will do.

Don't forget to check out the latest episode of the Geek Freak of the Week Podcast. Take a listen on the very free iHeart Radio App! Until next week. I'm Maz and that's the Geek Freak of the Week!
