Starlight: "Don't Worry, Hughie. The Geek Freak of the Week Is Here"

Enter The Dune

To start off the week, the new Dune trailer from Warner Brothers arrived on Wednesday. Based on the 1965 novel from Frank Herbert comes the world of Dune. This isn't the first time the book has been adapted. The first attempt was in 1984. Then again, as a mini series, in 2000. Fast forward to 2020, Warner Brothers is in the drivers seat.

The cast has many familiar faces. Oscar Issac, Jason Momoa, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista, to name a few.

Will The Real Rey Please Stand Up?

The Star Wars sequel trilogy started off strong with The Force Awakens then fell flat on its face when Rise of Skywalker came out. Now, we have learned what we all feared. Disney, Lucas Films, and Director JJ Abrams, had no idea what to do about Rey's backstory.

SERIOUSLY?! Rey's last name, parentage, in fact, her entire existence haD been the main question ever since we met her back in 2015. Was she the daughter of Leia and Han? Was Luke's daughter? Was she a Kenobi or related to the Kenobi's in some way? Well, apparently, some of those ideas were on the list. The fact that she was the granddaughter of Emperor Palpatine was just....weird and forced. No one saw it coming, and that was a bad thing.

It made zero sense for Rey to be related to the Dark Lord of the Sith. However, what's done is done and there's no going back. This isn't Avengers Endgame over here. Would it have been more acceptable if she was a Kenobi? That was the fan theory for a while and made the most sense. It would have been a better revelation to accept (and believe) if the first theory, Rey being a true-blood Skywalker from either Leia and Han or from a fling Luke had with another space lady, was not her parentage.

Disney, WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO US?!

Homelander Is Maaaaad!

Now that we have binged the first three episodes of The Boys on Amazon Prime Video, the habit of waiting for the next episode to be released has begun. If you haven't seen episode 4 yet, here's a quick teaser. If you have seen it, episode 5 arrives on Friday September 18th.

Sony Set Back

No new movies will go to the theaters until the pandemic is over. Period. Looks like Sony has taken a stand. This affects many films already in the planning or filming stages. The third movie in the Spider-Man Home series, Venom: There Will Be Carnage, Ghost Busters: Afterlife, and Jared Leto's take on Morbias, to name a few. However, animated films, such as Hotel Transylvania 4 with Adam Sandler, scheduled to arrive in the summer of 2021 could be released on-demand. However, that is speculation and not confirmed by Sony.

Merry Christmas, Wonder Woman

This movie is getting moved just as many times as New Mutants. Reset the calendars. Wonder Woman and all her friends are now set for this Christmas at a theater near you.
