Black Widow Is Here
I never thought I'd ever post this. After being rescheduled a few times, the solo Black Widow film has finally arrived and is now in theaters and streaming on Disney+ as part of their "premium access". That means you have to pay separately to see this movie. I'm told revealing the plot and giving away potential spoilers is bad so just watch an exclusive clip below.
Remembering A Legend
This past week, the film and superhero genre lost someone who was crucial to the success of making comic books into movies. Richard Donner, who directed 1978's Superman and its sequel Superman II, along with the classic The Goonies, passed away at the age of 91.
Although there were superhero films and shows before this, Richard Donner brought Superman, and the people of Metropolis, to life on the big screen that had never been done before. He showed that you could take a 10-page comic book and turn it into a blockbuster movie.
Interestingly, Kevin Fiege over at Marvel Studios interned for the director in his early days of working on movies. If Kevin Fiege is the "Father of Superhero Films" then Richard Donnor is the Grandfather of that genre.
Many online tributes were made after the news of Richard Donner's passing was made public. In the tweet below, see what Kevin Feige wrote.
Another thing that makes Richard Donner important for superhero movies, and films themselves, he's one of the reasons why Director's Cuts of films are mainstream. The Superman II director was fired halfway through production and replaced with Richard Lester. Even though the film was a great success, its sequels of Superman III and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace...were not. when Superman Returns in 2006 was intended to be a sequel to Superman II from Richard Donner's vision. Due to pressure from fans the director Bryan Singer, Warner Brothers attained the movie rights to the early Superman films to release the "Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut" which set up the events for Superman Returns.
He'll be missed and can never be replaced.
There's News...Then There's Vought News
Amazon's hit series The Boys is coming back for a third season...someday. In the meantime, here's a little taste of what could come in the next season.
Marvel's Next Series
Now that Loki is about to conclude it's time to get ready and hyped for another Marvel series on Disney+ next month! What If... will be a series (most likely stand-alone) of alternate outcomes from Marvel's gallery of heroes and villains. For example...What If Peggy Carter received the super-soldier formula over Steve Rogers? Or, what if Tony was never captured therefore never became Iron Man? That's exactly what this series will explore. Check out the trailer below.
Loki Goes To Earth
Before we wrap up, Loki is making an appearance in a stand-alone episode of The Simpsons which is now available to watch on Disney+. Here's the trailer...or sneak peek...or preview. Not sure what it is but watch it!
