The Tampa Bay Rays (47-33) defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks (41-41) 4-2 on Saturday night at Tropicana Field. The win was the fourth straight victory for the Rays, who won the interleague series against Arizona, and has put the Rays in a virtual tie atop the AL East with the New York Yankees.
After Arizona got one in the top of the first from a RBI single from Corbin Carroll, the Rays answered with a solo homer in the bottom of the first from Junior Caminero. Jonathan Aranda hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth, before Cedric Mullins added a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth that made it 4-1. Arizona got one back in the eighth from a Ketel Marte homer to make it 4-2, which would prove to be the final score.
The Rays will now try to sweep the Diamondbacks when they meet in the series finale on Sunday afternoon. First pitch Sunday is scheduled for 1:40 PM - pregame coverage begins with This Week in Rays Baseball at high noon on 95.7 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
