The Tampa Bay Rays (69-46) defeated the Seattle Mariners (56-61) 2-1 late Friday night in Seattle, Washington. With the win the Rays are now 23 games over .500 and have won four games in a row.
Drew Rasmussen (11-5, 2.75) pitched seven shutout innings in which he allowed two hits while striking out eight and walking two. Jonny DeLuca and Jonathan Aranda both hit solo home runs to account for the only offense of the night. The only Mariners run came in the ninth inning when Julio Rodriguez hit a solo home run off Bryan Baker - that was the only hit Baker allowed en route to his 33rd save of the season.
